POSITION SUMMARY:

The Shipping & Receiving Specialist is responsible for overseeing all incoming and outgoing products and must conduct inventory audits regularly.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates lift trucks, forklift, scissor lift or hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or areas.
  • Unpacks, examines, and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Receives and processes all defective parts returned for replacement or credit.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Performs all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods.
  • Supports the shipment of goods produced and the received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base.
  • Responsible for planning for pick up by the carrier specified on the customer’s purchase order, which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructions.
  • Responsible for keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand always.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Required to make pickups and deliveries to our suppliers for parts and raw materials using a company van.
  • Follows inspection procedures.
  • Resolves any material needs, solving material problems and inventory control issues as they arise.
  • Updates computer generated inventories and documents.
  • Facilitate fulfilment of orders by gathering materials or inventory.
  • Getting equipment for sales orders to the programing shelf



QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Shipping and Receiving
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, such as Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong communication skills
  • Candidates must possess clean driving record and valid driver's license.
  • Familiarity with Security and Access Control equipment preferred


WORKING CONDITIONS:

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear, utilize personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to potentially hazardous materials, lift (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequently utilize near vision use for reading and computer use; be able to handle semi-frequent stressful conditions (cardiovascular), frequently work in outdoor weather conditions, frequently move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally ascend / descend a ladder, operate a motor vehicle, frequently position self to maintain computers or other equipment as needed.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have the ability to travel as needed. (Less than 25%) Some overnight travel may be expected.
