  • Senior Web Developer

About the Senior Web Developer:

The First Mile Senior Web Developer will be responsible for building innovative web applications to design and build customer experience. They are responsible for the full life cycle of the process including estimation, analysis, design, implementation, testing and support.This team works in a highly collaborative, cross-functional, and agile environment. You'll collaborate closely with UX researchers and designers, product managers, customers, and other First Mile team members to help define the scope of the product. You will be counted on to be an influential voice in decisions related to front-end system architecture, feature development, and product strategy.

Technical skills:
  • 6+ years of overall software development experience, with an emphasis on front-end engineering
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model
  • Thorough understanding of React.js and its core principles
  • Prior experience with popular React.js workflows (such as Flux or Redux) or Next.js Or Angular
  • Deep end-to-end front-end application knowledge, thrive in a fast-paced environment, deep interest to build the right products for our customers, and experience with highly responsive web applications.
  • Expertise in Front-End technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node. JS, React.
  • Demonstrated passion for user experience design and improving usability
  • Understanding of software engineering practices, design patterns, data structures and algorithms
  • Demonstrates experience/knowledge of RESTful web services
  • UI/UX Design experience

Additional Desired Skill set:Knowledge and understanding of mobile application development using cross-platform (React Native) and/or iOS/Android native development (using Objective C/Swift or Java)

About the Senior Mobile Developer:

The First Mile Senior Mobile Developer will be responsible for building innovative mobile applications to design and build customer experience. They are responsible for the full life cycle of the process including estimation, analysis, design, implementation, testing and support.This team works in a highly collaborative, cross-functional, and agile environment. You'll collaborate closely with UX researchers and designers, product managers, customers, and other First Mile team members to help define the scope of the product. You will be counted on to be an influential voice in decisions related to mobile system architecture, feature development, and product strategy.

Different problems require different tools and our organization's mobile developers must be able to identify when a cross-platform solution would be beneficial. A senior mobile developer must be passionate about learning new technologies, frameworks, libraries and socializing them with the team while mentoring less experienced developers.

Technical skills:
  • 6+ years of overall software development experience, with an emphasis on mobile engineering
  • 3+ years of combined experience developing native mobile applications for iOS in Swift and Objective-C or Android platforms using Java or Kotlin
  • 1 or more years of experience with a cross-platform mobile framework
  • Promote best practices by developing tested and organized code
  • Champion high quality software by peers and teammates through collaborative and constructive code reviews
  • Experience with MVC and MVVM design patterns
  • Demonstrates experience or knowledge of RESTful web services
  • UI/UX Design experience
  • Experience with creating or using third-party digital wallet/payment processing services is a plus
  • Experience with developing progressive web apps is a plus

About the Senior Full-Stack Developer:

The First Mile Engineering team is looking for a creative and motivated Software Engineer with excellent problem solving and great personal skills. We are looking for a full stack developer who can build APIs, websites, web services and tools that will keep GM and First Mile on the cutting-edge of technology. You will be part of every stage of development from incubation to deployment. You will join a dynamic team with strong technical skills who take pride on their work and delivering the best products and experience to our users. As a member of our self-motivated team, you will have the opportunity to be part of current and new projects that will inspire others in the industry.

Technical skills:
  • Full lifecycle System development using standard design patterns/frameworks, such as SOLID design patterns, Event-based, Domain-Driven Development, and Microservices.
  • You will be required to have broad software project delivery experience in leading technical efforts developing applications using a variety of tools, languages, frameworks, and technologies
  • 6+ years of overall software development experience, with an emphasis on writing Java systems
  • Experience with Microservices and containerized deployment using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Performance tuning, usability assessment/improvement, automation technologies
  • Proactively engage in the identification / remediation of software issues related to code or solutions quality, security, and/or pattern/frameworks and software usability or end user related issues
  • Expertise in SQL (relational databases), key-value datastores, and document stores
  • Experienced knowledge of maintaining and debugging live software systems.

Education requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
