Who Are We?
Are you someone that likes new challenges? Do you want to explore new technologies and help solve some of the world's most difficult problems, like air quality and safety solutions? At TSI, these opportunities are real. Our engineers work with industry-leading experts both internally and externally. We encourage and enable our engineers to get into the field with customers to better understand their issues and solve their problems. At TSI, you make a difference - every day.

Sr. Electrical Engineer at TSI

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be part of a New Product Development team and contribute to the design and testing of electronics, especially printed circuit assemblies, that are part of a wide variety of particle, gas, and flow measurement sensors and devices. Typical electrical system features/needs include: measurement and user controls, low power consumption, compact enclosure interfaces, and embedded systems. To accomplish this, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of and an ability to apply standard engineering practices toward complex problem solving associated with the design, development, and manufacturing of parts for electronics/PCBs using 32 bit microcontrollers and custom discrete analog and digital circuitry. Candidate may also write firmware to operate designed boards, as necessary.

This position will assume leadership on technical projects and effectively communicate in cross functional teams that span all engineering disciplines, marketing, sales, and production.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will:

  • Create architecture for electrical systems, design circuits, and printed circuit assemblies, and communicate requirements to firmware engineers and assess their output.
  • Lead development of printed circuit assemblies, designing circuit to meet technical specification and ensure the product meets electromagnetic compatibility requirements.
  • Independently design, simulate, test, and debug moderately complex to complex electrical circuits to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards, and customer needs.
  • Evaluate potential solutions to engineering problems for feasibility, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness.
  • Apply problem solving skills to analyze new and unfamiliar engineering problems and review potential solutions with other engineers and/or project leads, when necessary.
  • Estimate task duration and resource requirements for project schedules.
  • Provide work direction to individuals or a group of engineers with respect to the project or tasks, in order to meet project deadlines.
  • Design and implement sub-system level test to validate project work.
  • Develop solutions to new and unfamiliar engineering problems that integrate into existing product lines and provides a standard approach to future designs.
  • Provide strong documentation and specifications on project work.
  • Bring the project group to a higher level of engineering skills coupled with the ability to work cross functionally with manufacturing, marketing, and sales to move a project forward.
  • May travel to customer sites to provide customer service support and help resolve problems.

What Do You Need?
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of product development with Electrical Engineering experience from the concept phase through the launch phase with leadership over the electrical HW and FW portion
  • Embedded HW design with 32-bit microcontrollers such as ARM, Cortex
  • Low noise analog circuits to support precision sensors
  • Analog detection through digitization circuitry design
  • Low Power DC/DC Power supply design
  • PSpice circuit simulation or equivalent
  • Advanced PCB layout knowledge and grounding principles
  • Experience with analog to digital conversion, digital logic, memory, and signal processing
  • Design and capture of circuit schematics

Desired
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • C/C++ programming
  • Design for Internet-of-Things or other network protocols and environments
  • Design of circuits in support of wireless technology
  • Design of battery power and charge circuits
  • Linux operating system knowledge
  • Experience with (limited) PCB layout
