The Senior Director, SAP Applications Development will report into the Head of Information Technology and is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of backend applications within the organization. This position involves strategic planning, technical leadership, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful development and maintenance of high-quality applications that meet business needs and align with organizational objectives. Specifically, this individual will play a critical role in ensuring a seamless migration from SAP ECC to the next-generation S/4HANA platform. As such, the role requires a deep understanding of both SAP and S/4HANA technologies, as well as strong leadership and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a strategic vision for applications development, aligning it with organizational goals and technological advancements. Develop a comprehensive transition strategy outlining the roadmap for migrating from SAP to S/4HANA. Collaborate with senior management to prioritize application development initiatives based on business needs and market trends.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to the backend applications development team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. Possess a deep understanding of SAP and S/4HANA architectures, functionalities, and integration points. Collaborate with technical teams to assess system requirements, perform data migration, and configure S/4HANA solutions to meet business needs. Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.
  • Team Management: Lead a team of 30+ associates, including 2 direct reports, ensuring effective collaboration and a high-performance culture. Oversee recruitment, training, and professional development within the applications development team.
  • Project Portfolio Management: Oversee the backend applications development project portfolio, ensuring effective prioritization, resource allocation, and successful project delivery. Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to monitor project progress and address issues as needed.
  • Business Relation / Collaboration: Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful execution of leveraging S4 base capabilities to address critical business functions. Work with key business partners to align resources, schedules and risk mitigation to lead this business transformation effort leveraging learings from previous S4 programs.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality assurance processes and standards for applications development. Implement testing methodologies to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of developed applications.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the budget for applications development, ensuring optimal resource utilization and cost-effectiveness.Monitor project costs and take corrective actions as needed to stay within budgetary constraints.

Skills
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in a leadership role within applications development, with a track record of successfully delivering complex software applications.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of SAP ERP systems, with specific expertise in transitioning to S/4HANA.
  • Experience with agile and DevOps practices.
  • Ability to think strategically and make sound decisions under pressure
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities effectively.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science preferred
  • 7-10 years of experience in SAP, S/4HANA, S/4 Migration, SAP on Cloud
  • Illustrated progressive people leadership responsibilities

The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $213,900.00 - $251,700.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
