The Role

In this role you will have management responsibility for international and corporate tax planning functions for a Fortune 150 company with $20 billion in revenue. You will work with other Tax leaders to develop the global tax strategy, and support and influence the company’s overall long-term business plans by recommending tax efficient structures. You will have oversight of significant international tax planning and special projects including M&A and internal restructurings. This role reports to the VP, Tax Planning & Controversy.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements strategies and executes those tactical efforts necessary to maximize financial statement tax benefits, increase after tax cash flows, or mitigate tax exposures.
  • Develops and implements international tax planning ideas and opportunities that will minimize the impact of income taxes on the Company’s bottom line through effective planning, audit management, risk management, documentation, and research.
  • Support the M&A activity including due diligence, structure alternatives, separation and integration, and internal restructurings.
  • Proactively leads the development of tax planning strategies and opportunities for operations globally including EMEA and LatAm.
  • Work directly with the VPs of EMEA and LatAm to drive global planning.
  • Assist with the federal income and sales tax audit and appeals process, including negotiations of audit settlements.
  • Coordinate with tax compliance to ensure that all international income and transaction tax return elections, disclosures, and accounting and reporting methods are accurately prepared, timely filed, and well-documented.
  • Proactively manage and develop staff, creating a positive environment whereby they are challenged, motivated, and groomed for advancement.
  • Approve quarterly and annual financial statements footnote disclosures in accordance with ASC 740 related to international.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with other individuals and groups within the Company to ensure the Tax Department is effectively serving our business partners.
  • Communicate tax matters with the SVP Global Tax, tax department leaders and senior finance leaders with the Company.
  • Keeps abreast of internal and external development and interpret domestic and international tax legislation which could impact business operations.
  • Direct the Company’s external policy groups on all international tax legislative proposals. Meet with legislators, government officials and industry organizations to assist in driving the policy positions of the Company.
  • Manage outside tax service providers and counsel related to tax planning projects.
  • Function as an ambassador for tax department in communicating value added planning strategies.
  • Ensure strong communication flow within the tax department and other departments.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required

  • J.D.
  • 10+ years of corporate income tax related experience in combination of high-tech public companies, law firm and Big Four audit firms
  • Extensive experience in international tax
  • Extensive U.S. Federal tax knowledge
  • Extensive experience in identifying, analyzing, and communicating complex tax issues and their impact on the company and its operations to key stakeholders, and executive leaders
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills

 

Preferred

  • CPA, LL.M or MBA
  • Public company experience

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
