Position Summary

Interfacing with R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams, this Wallingford, Connecticut based Senior Development Engineer is responsible for leading R&D projects including new product development and sustaining engineering projects, and acts as a valuable resource to drive innovation for Teleflex's Z-Medica portfolio of hemostatic medical devices.

Principal Responsibilities

o Lead processing, materials, characterization and design aspects of Teleflex's Z-Medica medical device development
o Develop processes and lead scale-up for manufacturing at vendor sites
o Conduct testing and develop test methods that may improve the speed and accuracy of production
o Design experiments and analyze data using standard statistical methods and packages
o Work in compliance with Design Control procedures
o Create protocols, write reports, update and maintain Design History Files
o Design including creating engineering drawings
o Work in and lead cross-functional teams and assist Quality and Regulatory departments
o Other duties as assigned

Education / Experience Requirements

o MS in Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or similar discipline and a minimum of five years of experience in medical device testing or design
o In lieu of MS degree, a BS and a minimum of eight years of experience in medical device testing or design
o Experience with design control
o Familiarity with GLP and GMP requirements and some previous experience interacting with outside contractors and/or vendors
o Experience with experimental design, statistical data analysis, developing new designs and specifications for new or existing products and processes
o Experience in working in cross-functional teams and development projects where timelines have been established
o Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
o Experience with MiniTab, SAP, Agile and SolidWorks a plus
o Good communication skills including report writing, analysis and presentation
o Familiar with a quality system such as FDA, ISO 13485, or ISO 9001
