Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Business Technology (NBT)is seeking qualified applicants for the position ofSenior Data Engineer.This position will be responsible for supporting Nucor's data initiatives, ensuring the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of data, and contributing to the development of data-driven solutions. The role requires a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Ensure that industry-accepted data engineering practices and standards are integrated and followed to meet technical and business goals.
• Maintain secure, high quality, reliable data delivery.
• Work closely with teams to collect and translate information requirements into data to develop data-centric solutions that meet current needs and are scalable to adopt future changes in technology. Leading this effort requires coordination and integration with various project teams across Nucor.
• Function as senior data engineer to provide oversight and technical direction for the data engineering team.
• Lead effort to design and implement a new Data Lakehouse architecture for Nucor divisions based on the medallion architecture.
• Provide assistance and thought leadership for defining our Nucor Master and Reference Data Management strategy.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in designing, building, and implementing modern data pipelines
• 5+ experience using SQL and Python for data pipelines
• Extensive hands-on experience in implementing ETL/ELT solutions
• Experience in the Microsoft Azure stack of data technologies including Databricks
• Experience designing and developing Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, and/or Data Lakehouses at scale
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps is preferred)
• Experiences working within Agile Frameworks

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to data governance and master data management practices
• Experience leading teams through technology and process changes
• Experience with Azure DevOps and Agile Project Methodology
• A willingness to travel periodically and domestically is required to satisfy project or training demands
