About the Team

As a part of the Walmart US Innovation and Automation organization, you will have the opportunity to help shape the future of the grocery supply chain. The Grocery Engineering team supports the growing needs of the grocery distribution network by deploying innovative automated solutions to increase capacity, improve associate friendliness, and help grocery distribution centers to supply Walmart Stores and Sam's Clubs with the quality groceries our customers expect. As an Automation Engineer you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and improving engineered solutions within the grocery distribution center network.

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience and an Industrial, Mechanical, or other engineering degree.
  • Automation system design or automation integration into an existing facility.
  • Analysis of complex data to influence strategic decisions.
  • Project management of engineering or automation projects.

You'll make an impact through the following job functions:
  • Automation Integration: Identify considerations for bringing a new automation design to a facility. Work with teams to measure and manage project performance. Lead implementation plans, estimates for projects, and status reports on next steps. Prepare integration tests. Measure and compare results with established test criteria.
  • Business Acumen: Deeply understand the business processes the team engages with. Support the development of automation business cases and recommendations. Own the delivery of project activity and tasks assigned by others. Support process updates and changes. Solve simple business issues. Demonstrate functional knowledge of the business unit being supported.
  • Data and Digital Literacy: Leverage data analysis tools to explore complex data, develop and test hypotheses, use data to influence strategic work, and build and present insights with visualization tools. Identify, implement, and drive technology change.
  • Partnership and Collaboration: Engage with team members regularly and establish credibility. Analyze stakeholder needs and partner with stakeholders to share relevant information. Take a "one team" approach to collaborate and accomplish goals for the business.
  • Influential Communication: Organize thoughts and communicate confidently, credibly, and concisely within scope of work. Present to and influence team and business partners, conveying messages through an understanding of the relevant context. Utilize relevant data to articulate results and provide recommendations in a structured manner. Actively listen to others, seek and provide constructive feedback, and provide ideas/recommendations on processes.

Location

The primary team location is at Walmart Home Office in Bentonville, AR but this role can also be based out of any of our nearly 50 Grocery Distribution Centers spread across the country.
