Job Description

About the Position:

As a Senior IT Solutions' Architect, you will be responsible and accountable for the quality and cohesion of solution architecture components supporting multiple applications for the GM Motorsports engineering race teams. This role will include solution architecture definition for supporting configuration management, simulation platforms and race-day applications. This includes both hands-on development of IT technology solution architectures as well as management of various architectural initiatives in coordination with both GMIT and external sourced development teams. Additionally, you possess the ability to look across the GM Commercial and GM Motorsports domains to ensure consistent alignment of technical solutions with the business goals and objectives of the race teams from multiple race leagues (e.g. NASCAR, Corvette Racing, NHRA, etc). This role will ensure there is appropriate and effective data integration across multiple applications.

In this dynamic team you will bring your expertise for mastering all the capabilities required of a solutions architect. You will showcase your expertise with various architectural patterns, technologies, and architecture management processes. While you work within the Global Product Development and Quality Architecture team you will contribute to multi-layered solution architectures that comprehend and specify business, application, data, and infrastructure designs leveraging Azure cloud and Open Source technology solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate complex race-team requirements to maintain a competitive edge in their respective league supporting applications for Computer Aided Design, Configuration Management, Inventory Management, Race Configuration Management, Race-Day Analytics, and Race Simulation Analysis tools.
  • Interfacing with IT development teams to implement agile solutions support GM's Motorsports race teams leveraging cloud technologies.
  • Interfacing with 3rd party IT development and data providers to integrate solutions across the tool-chain.
  • Creating and approving solution architectures which includes evaluation, selection and integration of necessary technical components to create solution designs that support the defined functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Definition of current state application and/or infrastructure architectures for the defined motorsports league.
  • Development and approval of future state application or infrastructure architectures in an organized and cohesive manner using industry accepted frameworks.
  • Understands, applies, and recommends architecture principles in the context of a specific solution.
  • Integration and cohesion of developed or reviewed architecture solutions across all architectural layers.
  • Understands and comprehends the implications of technology decisions and recommendations across multiple domain areas.
  • Ensures that designed or reviewed solutions conform to architectural requirements such as scalability, maintainability, reliability, extensibility, usability, and security across multiple domain areas.
  • Promotes innovation and application of emerging IT technologies within the context of a business domain area.
  • Introduces technology innovation opportunities to the GM Motorsports organization. Participates in the evaluation of new technologies for inclusion as GM IT standards.
  • Leverages best in class Open-Source and Microsoft Azure technologies to quickly develop competitive race-team solutions.
  • Leads the culture within their team, holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors.
  • Models GM behaviors and creates a winning culture.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5-7+ years of professional software development experience
  • Demonstrated experience with building cloud-based Microsoft Azure solutions
  • Demonstrated experience with Java/Spring Boot, microservice architecture, angular/react, Apache Pulsar/Kafka
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities; creative problem solving; conflict resolution; business acumen
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and build of performance customer facing applications at scale
  • Solid understanding of design patterns, network design and software development best practices
  • Experience working in an agile environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with CAE analysis tools/platforms
  • Experience with big-data / analytical platforms (AI/ML)
  • Previous IT experience with Motorsport Racing history/background a plus!
