Job Description

This Information Technology Enterprise Architect should have a well-rounded set of capabilities required of an IT architect responsible for the design and communication of high-level structures to enable and guide the design and development of integrated solutions that meet current and future business needs. You will be able to have a working knowledge of industry standard architectural patterns, technologies and architecture management processes. They should be capable of working with general direction from a more senior IT architect while developing multi-layered solution architectures that comprehend and specify business, application, data and infrastructure designs.

Enterprise Architects will lead, apply, and understand the standards process and be able to design systems that conform to established standards. They also lead the definition of GM IT technology direction, standards and roadmaps across one or more business or technical domains and ensure that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security) are applied correctly.

Customer focus and communication skills to work with architects from across IT organization and domains to facilitate the evaluation of new technologies for inclusion as GM IT standards.

Responsible for maintaining software lifecycles for commercial and open source software in coordination with software vendors.

Responsible to working with senior architects to streamline and automate processes to allow IT organizations to follow standards, policies, and standard methodologies.

Responsible to serve as a solution architect for development of tools necessary to automate the tactical work associated with search, implementation, and compliance of IT standards. Includes familiarity of languages like Java and JavaScript.

Responsible for documentation and comprehension of the current and future state application and/or infrastructure architectures for the assigned domain areas.

Ensures that designed or reviewed solutions conform to architectural requirements such as scalability, maintainability, reliability, extensibility, usability and security.

Holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors. Models GM behaviors and crafts a winning culture.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or master's degreein a technical discipline or related experience
  • Must have at least 10-12 years of experience in architecting, designing and developing Enterprise applications that are 5 STAR compliant.
  • Must have deep knowledge in various Enterprise, Web and Mobile technologies.
  • Must have experience with architecture spanning application, data, security, infrastructure areas.
  • Ability to lead architecture and work with software development teams with both technical expertise and metrics-based approaches
  • Ability to contribute to solution implementation as needed including prototypes and proofs of concept.
  • Enterprise level IT experience in an architect role
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
