The Senior Accountant will be responsible for supporting General Ledger and Financial Reporting activities. You'll need at least 4+ years of experience of month-end closing, documentation and analysis and welcome the opportunity to make an impact from day one.

We have expanded into Canada, Australia and Europe (Sweden and Germany) so multi-national experience, or the interest to gain that experience, is highly preferred.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

As a key member of the Accounting team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
  • Perform month-end and quarter-end closing duties, owning preparation of journal entries, balance sheet, and income statement reconciliations and analysis.
  • Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and other issues that should be brought to management.
  • Comply with internal controls, in accordance with Company's guidelines, to ensure a high degree of completeness and accuracy of the financial statements.
  • Collaborate with Financial Planning and Analysis and Shared Services teams, and other cross-functional departments as required, to ensure completeness of accrual and deferral schedules.
  • Communicate with on-site, operational finance team members by coordinating activities, answering questions, and ensuring adherence to the Company's policies and procedures.
  • Prepare documentation for external auditors for periodic audits/reviews.
  • Review sales tax returns and filings with local offices.
  • Assist with maintaining fixed asset schedules according to GAAP standards.
  • Assist with the coordination, management, and reporting of the Company's SEC filings including 10-Ks and 10-Qs
  • Prepare footnotes and MD&A comments
  • Prepare supporting schedules and assist with financial statement tie out
  • Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily.   • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required from an accredited university
  • 4+ years of accounting experience
  • 2+ year public accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and SOX requirements
  • Experience with preparing and reconciling the following accounts: prepaid and other assets, fixed assets, leases, accounts receivable and payable, accruals, payroll accounting
  • Accounting ERP experience required
  • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management
  • Experience in environments with high transaction volume
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables and v-lookup formulas required
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Solid organization and time management skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, managing responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated)
  • Positive, proactive and team-focused attitude
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • CPA
  • Familiarity or experience with Workday
