The Security Supervisor is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses - are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association.

Facility: North Fulton Hospital
Job Summary: An individual in this position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Security & Parking programs at all WellStar Health System facilities and will assist the manager to ensure parking, watch and patrol duties are carried out. The Security Supervisor will assist the Security Manager in the selection, training and assignment of new officers and with the training of existing security officers at WellStar hospital locations. The Security Supervisor will assist with internal investigations and with the planning and maintenance of the key/access control and video surveillance systems. The Security Supervisor also assists with the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of segments of a system-wide emergency management program as it relates to the security function, schedules fire drills, review and approves officer's daily reports. The Security Supervisor will carry a WHS-issued handgun and reports to the Security Manager. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Essential Duties/Functions - Assists with the development and implementation of effective training programs for all Security team members. - Maintains scheduling of officers adequate to meet the needs of assigned facilities. - Identifies the training needs of security staff. Researches and develops applicable classes and programs. - Assigns officers to classes necessary to maintain their required training and certification status. - Assist with investigations assigned by the Manager of Security involving incidents and events at WHS facilities. - Maintains strong knowledge of Matrix and Video surveillance systems and programs security technology as needed. * Has the ability to make keys, install door hardware and maintain/support access control systems. 25% Safety/Emergency Preparedness - Participates in planning and conducting emergency management training for security staff; participates in workshops, conferences, and test exercises. - Works with other departments and personnel to promote emergency management programs; participates in special activities to ensure effective utilization of System resources in the event of an emergency. - Assists in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of segments of System-wide emergency management program as it relates to the security function. 25% Provide excellent customer service - Act with honesty and integrity with employees and customers, showing and speaking with respect for the rights of others, human dignity and local culture. - Maintain a positive working relationship with facility staff members. - Communicate effectively with diverse people including patients, visitors, employees and medical staff. d. Write accurate, clear, and legible reports. 15% Communications/Reporting - Provides regular reports to facility-based and system Environment of Care Committees and senior leaders regarding the department's performance as well as significant and criminal events both on-campus and off. - Evaluates annually the scope, performance and effectiveness of the security management program preparedness needs. - Provides regular reports to facility-based and system Environment of Care Committees and senior leaders regarding the department's performance as well as significant and criminal events both on-campus and off. - Assists with on-going risk assessments as necessary to ensure safe and secure facilities for employees, visitors, staff and patients. 15% Leadership - Assumes authority in Security Managers absence. - Develops and issues BOLO (Be On The Look Out) notices as needed and distributes with sister hospitals/facilities as needed. - The desire to serve and protect others in a healthcare environment, to help those in need, and to provide a safe and secure environment for quality patient care. 20% Required Minimum Education: High school diploma Required Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

Additional License(s) and Certification(s):Required Minimum Experience: Minimum 2 years healthcare security/safety related experience or law enforcement experience. Required Required Minimum Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly in both oral and written forms, and able to edit the written communications of subordinates. Be familiar with the criminal and civil statutes relevant to security operations. Must be able to function and make sound decisions, especially in emergency or highly stressful situations. Ability to obtain certification to include: Taser, Defensive Tactics and AVADE (De-escalation), AHA Heartsaver or have received and can document, equivalent qualifications (as determined by WHS Security Management). Should be knowledgeable concerning supervisory skills and techniques and be able to apply that knowledge. Ability to communicate effectively and present information to professionals, other interested groups, and/or individuals. Must have the ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply regulations, procedures, and related emergency management information, be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, staff, public officials, civic and community groups, and the general public. Must be able to accept responsibility, manage authority and maintain confidentiality of information.
