Position OverviewThe Science Outreach Manager of the Kansas Geological Survey (KGS) at the University of Kansas (KU) invites applications for a KGS Science Outreach Summer Research Assistantship position for the summer of 2024. The position is available for upper-level undergraduates, recent graduates, or graduate students with an interest in science education and/or science communication. The KGS Outreach section oversees activities including publications, online and K-12 educational resources, public field trips, and KGS exhibits at local conferences and events.Job Description This assistantship is a 12-week summer position during which interns will work with KGS outreach and communications personnel. Projects that the intern may contribute to during the summer include the development of earth science toolkits for K-12 classrooms, scanning in historical photos, and creating videos highlighting geoscience sites across the state.
