Position Information: UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA, School of Entrepreneurship and Management, Open Rank Professor, Position # 16428The University of North Dakota, College of Business and Public Administration, School of Entrepreneurship has a full-time, tenure track Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Entrepreneurship.  Applicants with a strong research record may be awarded the Burwell Endowed Chair. The position will remain open until filled, with a start date of Spring 2021 or Fall 2021. The School of Entrepreneurship and Management within the Nistler College of Business and Public Administration is a hub for innovation, where students develop an entrepreneurial mindset and launch businesses.  The School currently offers a major, minor, and certificate in Entrepreneurship.  The School of Entrepreneurship and Management supports 6 majors with 9 full-time faculty members and several part-time faculty members.Duties & Responsibilities: The faculty position to be filled is a full-time, tenure track appointment with primary responsibilities in teaching, research, and service/outreach.  The Burwell Endowed Chair is a three-year, renewable appointment which supports excellence in research.  The successful candidate will become an integral part of the School of Entrepreneurship and Management, with duties to include a 2/2 course load (40% allocation), high quality research leading to journal publications and scholarly publications (50% allocation), and service to the School, College, University, and professional communities (10% allocation).  The successful candidate may also benefit from and contribute to existing research groups exploring the following UND identified Grand Challenge areas:  (1) energy security and environmental sustainability,  (2) health challenges, (3) rural health and social problems, (4) UAS developments and markets, and/or (5) big data.  The School and College are particularly interested in candidates who have expertise in or interest related to areas of critical importance to the State of North Dakota and the region as manifested through UND’s Grand Challenges (http://www1.und.edu/research/about/grand-challenges/index.cfm) and in alignment with UND Strategic Plan (http://www1.und.edu/strategic-planning).  The School will consider a wide range of teaching/research interests, but candidates interested in entrepreneurship research, venture initiation, venture implementation, and small and family business are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to individuals with a well-develop stream of research publications and track record demonstrating excellence in teaching. Past professional experience related to entrepreneurship, such as venture ownership, significant investment stake in a venture, coaching entrepreneurs/economic development, intrapreneurship, or social enterprise/entrepreneurship is desirable.  General business experience, particularly managerial, will also be favorably considered.Competencies:

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with students, coworkers, and various external groups.
  • Ability to work with and engage students and colleagues within and outside of the School of Entrepreneurship and Management.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: 
  • An earned doctorate in Entrepreneurship or related field (ABD considered).
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check

  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness in Entrepreneurship areas.
  • Evidence of scholarly accomplishment in the field of Entrepreneurship and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Evidence of experiential, high-impact learning practices and active learning.
  • Professional experience related to entrepreneurship, such as venture ownership, significant investment stake in a venture, coaching entrepreneurs/ economic development, intrapreneurship, or social enterprise/ entrepreneurship. General business experience, particularly managerial, will also be favorably considered.
  • Evidence of potential to conduct scholarly research in areas supporting the University’s Grand Challenges.
