The National Resource Center for Youth Services (NRCYS) at the University of Oklahoma has been improving human services' effectiveness for more than 40 years, providing training and technical assistance to programs in Oklahoma and nationally. Specializing in training, consultation, and direct service, NRCYS is a leader in youth service philosophy, best practices, and youth engagement. Position Summary:  The Trainer position will plan, coordinate, and deliver training. The position will provide capacity-building technical assistance for individuals and organizations serving children, youth, and families supporting state and national initiatives of the National Resource Center for Youth Services (NRCYS). The position will design, develop, and evaluate curriculum, online training, workshops, and other learning opportunities.Duties:

  1. Train professionals working with children, youth, and families to support state and national initiatives of NRCYS. 
  2. Design and develop of curriculum, workshops, online training, and other learning opportunities to support state and national initiatives of NRCYS. 
  3. Develop and deliver capacity-building technical assistance for individuals and organizations working with children, youth, and families. 
  4. Plan and coordinate projects, meetings, and events. 
  5. Identify, facilitate, and participate in internal and external collaborations on current trends, best practices, and program development through meetings, telephone, and email correspondence. 
  6. Create and develop best practice tools, activities, and resources to support service delivery and understanding.
  7. Maintain knowledge and skills about legislation, best practices, and trends related to child, youth, and family services. 
  8. Utilize data to guide work-related decisions. 
  9. Plan and attend internal and external meetings.
  10. Write reports, professional correspondence, and other project-related documents. 
  11. Uphold, safeguard, and engage in activities to support the University mission, NRCYS vision, mission, values, and core principles of NRCYS.


Job Location
Education:  Bachelor's Degree in human services, education, or closely related fieldExperience:  18-36 months in any of the following areas or a combination of one or more of the following: 
  • Youth work (children welfare, child/youth/family services, juvenile justice, education, treatment services).
  • Understanding of service systems (mental health, community-based services, child welfare, education, etc.).
  • Training presentation and group facilitation.
  • Technical assistance and consultation.
  • Event planning and coordination.
  • Youth development and leadership activities.
  • Trauma responsive service provision.
  • Services to foster healthy youth development.
  • Services to foster healthy life span development.
  • Supporting children and youth in a successful transition to adulthood.
  • Evidence-based and research-informed practices.
Required Skills and Proficiencies:
  1. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  2. Cultural humility and responsiveness knowledge and skills, including an understanding of its relevance to training.
  3. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  4. Ability to provide high-quality services while managing multiple projects under strict deadlines.
  5. Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development (including knowledge of how to access child welfare legislation and continuing education resources).
  6. Ability to think critically, problem-solve, and exercise professional judgment.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills (including the ability to deliver high-quality customer service and participate in cross-departmental work teams).
  8. Working knowledge and skills with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite
Departmental Preferences:
  1. Master's Degree in human services, education, or closely related field and experience in: 
    1. Curriculum design, development, and evaluation (e.g., instructional design, adult learning principles).
    2. Experience with online and blended learning development and delivery.
    3. Experience collaborating with public and private child welfare and/or child and youth-serving organizations.
    4. Knowledge regarding environmental and relational permanency.
    5. Data collection and management.
    6. Regional or national conference planning and/or workshop presentation.
    7. National child welfare federal legislation, practices, policies, and initiatives.
    8. Program assessment and evaluation.
