Hagerty's Response Division is expanding and looking for emergency management professionals to support clients in the immediate aftermath of disasters. We are seeking subject matter experts with federal, state, local, non-profit, and/or private sector backgrounds who would be able to deploy with short notice during the response phase of a disaster.
We are looking for experienced professionals with a background in emergency management and disaster planning.
Location: This position is in Washington, DC area and ability to travel might be required.
In this role, candidates must have:

  • At least two (2) years of professional experience in planning within an emergency management and/or response function.
  • Knowledge of the real-world application of disaster plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience in planning or in various Planning Section roles during incidents or events.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the United States (US), be on-site working with a client for several months, and work shifts up to 12 hours as needed based on the client's operational tempo.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with technology and comfort with computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
  • A bachelor's degree.
Candidates might also have:
  • Extensive emergency management, disaster response, emergency operations center (EOC), and/or field operations experience.
  • Experience with and understanding of the Incident Command System (ICS) and Planning Section roles and responsibilities.
  • Experience serving as Planning Section Chief, Deputy Planning Section Chief, Situation Unit Leader, or other Planning Section roles on various types of incidents or events.
  • A background in collecting, analyzing, and compiling data and essential elements of information related to a disaster operation.
  • Past mobilizations and deployments responding to disasters, including in austere conditions.
  • Formal certifications specific to emergency management, such as a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) designation.
  • A project management background.
  • A master's degree in a related field, such as emergency management, public safety, homeland security, public health, etc.
