Job Title:Research Senior TechnicianDepartment:Medicine | Surgical Oncology

Research Technician 3 to assist and provide support of research studies in cancer immunology under the guidance of Dr. William Carson, III, conducts planned research activities using observation, measurement and analytical techniques.

Responsibilities Include:

• Prepares solutions and live culture media for scientific experiments

• Performs a variety of assays and experimental tests

• Collects, sorts and processes tissue and blood samples

• Records and consolidates research data

• Performs routine experimental procedures on laboratory animals including surgical procedures and/or administration of drugs

• Assists with care of laboratory animals

• Assists with preparation of data and materials for inclusion in research reports, publications and grant applications written by principal investigator

• Researches current scientific literature on specified topics

• Assists with instructing research aides, undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory procedures and operation of equipment

• Calibrates various laboratory equipment and operates microscopes, centrifuges and other laboratory equipment; assists with ordering, stocking and maintenance of research supplies.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

• Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

Salary Range for this position: $17.10-$22.62 per hour

Additional Information:

The OSUCCC - James is the only cancer program in the United States that features a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center aligned with a nationally ranked academic medical center and a freestanding cancer hospital on the campus of one of the nation's largest public universities.

By the start of employment, all newly hired employees must receive at least the first dose of a two-dose series or a single dose of a one-dose series COVID-19 vaccination. Individuals who choose a two-dose series vaccination must receive the second dose within 45 days of their start date. Proof of vaccination will be required at time of hire.

Candidates may request a medical or religious exemption from the vaccination requirement. Campus employees may also request an exemption for personal reasons. Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, College of Medicine or OSUP Employees are not eligible for personal exemptions. All exemptions are subject to Ohio State's approval and subject to change, including revocation, due to legal and regulatory requirements.
