Meta is seeking a Speech Recognition Research Scientist to join our Speech team. We are looking for researchers in Machine Learning and AI with strong technical skills. The Speech team carries out research in the Audio, Speech, and Language Modeling areas. The ideal candidate will have research experience developing speech recognition systems in different languages. The candidate will help Meta conduct research that supports naturally spoken input in more than 70 languages.
Research Scientist, Speech Recognition (PhD) Responsibilities:
- Apply relevant AI and machine learning techniques to build intelligent systems that improve Facebook products and experiences
- Develop novel, accurate AI algorithms and advanced systems for resource constrained applications
- Define use cases and develop methodology and benchmarks to evaluate different approaches
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in the field of Speech Recognition or similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
- Experience developing machine learning algorithms or machine learning infrastructure in C/C++ or Python
- Research experience in one or more of the following areas: ASR, TTS, NLP, Conversational AI, Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence
- Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with on-device algorithm or distributed systems development
- Proven track record of achieving results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at workshops or conferences such as Interspeech or ICASSP
- Demonstrated research and software engineering experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub).
- Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward.
- Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.
