The Role:

Moderna is seeking a molecular biologist to join Technical Development newly established Sequencing Center. In this laboratory-based position, the individual will routinely process sequencing samples, operate, and troubleshoot instruments including ABI 3730xl, Echo, Illumina MiSeq, NovaSeq, plate readers and liquid handlers. Experience with lab automation is a plus. The candidate must thrive in a fast pace high throughput environment, have a collaborative spirit, and be curious and willing to learn new techniques to push process development forward.

Here's What You'll Do:

• Prepare samples, execute sequencing run within rapid turnaround time
  
• Understand sequencing techniques and laboratory equipment troubleshooting
  
• Enable high throughput testing workflows
  
• Execute improvement projects to strengthen overall lab competencies
  
• Be accountable for good documentation of experiments
  
• Work closely with other scientists, as well as cross-functional groups for method optimization
  
• Flexible to support occasionally weekend work
  

Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field
  
• Understanding of good lab practices and techniques
  
• Ability to multi-task and be flexible
  
• Desire to learn and be part of fast-paced team with multiple concurrent priorities
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years of hands-on experience in a biochemistry/molecular biology lab Experience with Sanger sequencing and/or Illumina NGS workflow
  
• Experience with qPCR, agarose gel, and other molecular biology techniques
  
• Experience with integrated laboratory automation including Hamilton and Echo liquid handlers
