The labs of Seung-Hun Lee (Physics) and Joshua Choi 's (Chemical Engineering) are conducting a joint project in basic and applied research in energy and security. We are seeking a joint Postdoctoral Research Associate who will help advance our understanding of optoelectronic materials through experimental neutron scattering studies. The core scientific aims of the project are to understand how atomic structure of doped perovskite semiconductors influences their optical properties.
As part of our team, you will perform experiments and analyze data to understand various phenomena in doped perovskites. The team members have strong skills in neutron scattering, materials synthesis, and the first-principles calculation techniques. The ideal candidate will be expected to lead neutron scattering measurement efforts to characterize the fundamental structural, rotational and vibrational properties of doped perovskites, develop an understanding of their underlying physics, and tune them to optimize their performance in optoelectronic devices. This position offers the opportunity to develop and master the suite of neutron scattering techniques used to study correlated systems including neutron diffraction to determine crystal structures, small angle neutron scattering to study textures of dopants, and inelastic neutron scattering to study rotational and vibrational dynamics. This position therefore provides the opportunity to make significant contributions in the field refining your existing experimental skills and developing new ones.
