Summary:
The Research Associate supports clinical and scientific research activities in the Flow Cytometry and Imaging Shared Resource. Performs a variety of routine and specialized laboratory tests and experimental procedures for the purposes of original research which generally are within a well-defined body of scientific knowledge and typically contribute to larger research efforts of independent investigators. These procedures commonly involve blood or bone marrow sample preparation (immunophenotyping) and flow cytometry data acquisition and analysis; The Research Associate will be responsible for maintaining detailed and accurate records relevant to the experiments conducted; inputs clinical and research information into the designated database system; conducts routine maintenance of equipment and machinery as needed. In addition, the Research Associate will provide customer service and training support to shared resource users on the use of the flow cytometry analyzers in the facility, and help troubleshoot issues that may arise during use of the equipment.

Starting salary for this position is $54,232 annually which includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience

1. Master's degree and the equivalent of eighteen (18) months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment; or
2. Bachelor's degree and the equivalent of thirty (30) months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment.

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have experience in a research/wet lab; experience with antibody staining techniques; flow cytometry experience; excellent communication skills and customer service; experience with data analysis. They will also have excellent written and verbal communication and experience with flow cytometers/sorters, and/or flow cytometry analysis.
