Job Description:

The Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics (HOBI) in the College of Medicine at the University of Florida (UF) seeks an early career faculty member with cross-disciplinary skills and career focus. We seek a person who will use their expertise in both statistical methods and health science to help team science succeed.

The person in the new position will collaborate with faculty, scientists, and health professionals across UF and the world on the design, analysis, reporting and management of cross-disciplinary research. Projects funded by a variety of Federal and state agencies will support the position initially. The faculty member will be expected to actively collaborate and then lead in achieving subsequent funding. Documentation of excellent written and oral research communication skill is required. We seek an ambitious and motivated colleague.

The faculty appointment will be in the Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics (HOBI) and its biomedical informatics division. The HOBI research agenda focuses on methods and results in prevention and implementation science, including health outcomes among vulnerable populations. The Department fosters collaborative relationships with investigators across diverse health disciplines and across the lifespan.

Expected Salary:

$100,000 to $120,000

Minimum Requirements:

A Ph.D. or the equivalent in training and experience in related quantitative scientific fields (such as epidemiology, (bio)-statistics, biomedical informatics, information science, data science, et al.) or a combination of Ph.D. and M.S. training in relevant fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Significant experience working with some part of the spectrum of health research data from electronic health records to clinical trial results to basic science laboratory assays.
  • Facility with a range of technical software needed to conduct and verify quantitative analyses.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest standards of reproducible research.
  • Ability to successfully interact with diverse stakeholders, including clinicians, IT staff, basic scientists, translational researchers, research participants, and community members.
  • Interest in and ability to learn to lead the development of new funding for projects.
