RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client in San Francisco, CA that is seeking a Remote Manager, Engineering (Full Stack).Summary:The Remote Manager, Engineering (Full Stack) will support and coach a team of engineers as they collaborate with other departments to build resilient, performant, and maintainable systems. The mobile apps, dashboard, and APIs power operational control of business-critical deliveries for all the customers, so this manager will have many opportunities to contribute to the shared success.Duties:

• Within the first two weeks: You will understand the team's context, their common collaborators, current development processes, and our product
• In the first month: You will develop rapport with your team by building psychological safety and working to identify and resolve systemic obstacles to high-quality work
• In the second month: You will help your team make good decisions by facilitating technical discussions and cultivating an atmosphere of continuous learning and improvement
• By the sixth month: You will have engaged with and initiated projects that improve development efficiency and quality of life by reducing technical debt and encouraging development best practices
• Possible project focus areas are: Planning and supporting professional development for your team, recruiting, and retaining great talent, and interview process development

REQUIREMENTS:

• At least one year of experience managing software engineers in a hands-off, coaching role
• A focus on developing the software team, mentorship and helping shape their career
• Experience managing a software team using modern technologies. Our stack includes Node, Coffescript, Angular/React, iOS, Android. Experience in Python, Java and similar languages considered
• Sound judgment, relevant data, and an open mind to help you and the team navigate together when the way forward isn't clear
• Empathy for our user's experience and a sense of craftsmanship to help guide our product and engineering focus
• Familiarity with modern project management approaches and tools

Nice To Have:

• Curiosity about our full stack so you can give great advice about scope and implementation tradeoffs
• Experience in balancing incremental codebase and tooling improvements with the ongoing development of new features
