Under the direction of the Director of Sales - Americas, Precision Optics, the Regional Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales in the Materion Precision Optics Western North American regional territory. The incumbent will concentrate on managing the territory efficiently by focusing on key existing customers, new business development and identifying new opportunities that align with MPO's technical capabilities and strategic direction. The incumbent is responsible for the overall success of the territory with regards to sales, account management/development and new business opportunities.

You Will Have the Opportunity to:

  • Coordinate sales activities in the West Coast/Western US territory by establishing and regularly updating sales forecasts
  • Maintain and increase market share with present customer base
  • Year on year, profitably grow the business at new and existing customers, aligned with the needs for the company
  • Build in depth relationships and partnerships with all key customers within the region
  • Provide customer visit reports and contact information in a timely fashion that convey critical account information and follow up actions required
  • Find business opportunities, identify and approach potential customers
  • Introduce MPO, its products and services to targeted customers and obtain RFQs.
  • Provide opportunity assessment of potential customers and communicate fit to MPO's capabilities and strategic direction
  • Negotiate with customers to obtain best price and terms/conditions for MPO
  • Provide support to territory customers in terms of quality issues, technical issues and any other issues
  • Work with the Director of Sales-Americas and VP of Global Sales to establish annual sales budget for territory
  • It is assumed that this position will require extensive travel at approximately 30-50%.

Requirements:
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree, with optical engineering background desired
  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience with proven track record, optics sales experience and/or consumer products sales experience preferred
  • Optical Industry experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with working in multi-disciplinary team
  • Preferred 3 years minimum experience working in a multinational company
  • Account management and business development skills required
  • Experience with commercial, consumer and government/prime contractor customers preferred

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
