MISSION:

The Raw Material Engineer is responsible for management of all raw materials in their domain*. This includes technical approval of new raw materials/supply points to ensure business continuity, savings and enhanced product performance. He/she is responsible for quality assurance by managing raw material non-conformities and by providing plant/production support. In addition, he/she is responsible for technical supplier relations including technical problem solving, supplier visits/process assessments, etc. All of this is realized in collaboration with many internal partners (Purchasing, Quality, Design, Industrialization, etc.) and as part of a world-wide technical network.

*Typically reinforcing fillers (carbon black, silica), silane, etc.

KEY EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Complete risk analyses for the determination of raw material approval scenarios
  • Analyze the impact of different processes / quality systems / process mastery / sustainability of raw material suppliers by evaluating the characteristics of products fabricated internally
  • Define / update / negotiate raw material specifications and quality status
  • Manage supplier relationships for quality and technical aspects (including management of raw material non-conformities)
  • Define and guarantee the implementation of supplier quality progress plans
  • Implement action plans to ensure business continuity in terms of raw material supply
  • Provide raw material technical expertise to internal R&D teams, networks and production facilities
  • Complete technical visits/audits of suppliers
  • Ensure knowledge capture via reports, databases, etc.

  • REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelors degree in a material-related field (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Science, etc).

    • Prior experience with polymer-based systems and/or filler reinforced materials is a plus.
