We are looking to add a 3rd Shift Quality Technician to our team in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. We are a 3 shift manufacturing facility.

The Quality Tech is responsible for providing support in developing and maintaining process controls capable of satisfying customer requirements in Quality, Cost and Delivery. Report on opportunities for improvement of overall product and process quality in Welding, Forging, Machining and Heat Treat processes.

Essential Functions:

Quality Systems: Perform effective IATF 16949 audits of the Quality Management System elements per established procedures and report audit results to quality management. Plan and implement corrective actions in conjunction with management direction. Advise management on potential quality system issues and recommend improvements to the quality system. Assist management in implementing and maintaining quality systems elements. Maintain document control system per established procedures. Document quality work instructions as directed. Familiar with APQP process and documentation.

Process and Product Quality Assurance: Develop procedures for new processes, audit established procedures and product for conformance per established procedures as directed and take actions as directed based upon results. Advise quality and manufacturing engineering on potential quality issues. Provide immediate containment actions and assist Quality and Production departments with corrective actions. Assist in training as directed by management.

Weld Testing: Utilize existing quality standards to evaluate weld quality providing disposition for scrap or repair. Review and document test results from new or existing weld operators. Maintain supplies for weld disposition, testing and tracking area. Perform weld macro inspections as directed.

• Make use of measuring equipment as needed for assigned tasks. Maintain gauges and measuring equipment. Recommend repair, replacement or upgrade of gauges and measuring equipment to management. Assist production in the use, maintenance, availability and training for assigned measuring equipment and gauges.

• Interface with other engineering components within the company and with the customers and suppliers on manufacturing related issues.

• Assist with new process implementation at the local plant level to include PPAPs / APQP.

• Analyze and support improvement for scrap and rework through corrective actions. Prepare reports and findings using software such as GageTrak, MiniTab, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and internal systems for part traceability.

Education and Training

• Associates Degree in Quality Assurance, Engineering / Welding Technology, Engineering or other related degree program or equivalent experience in applicable area is preferred

• Desired ASQ CQT, AWS CWI and / or RAB certified lead auditor

• Individual to be computer literate, Windows, word processing, databases and graphing software

• Must be proficient in analytical problem-solving techniques and possess strong written and oral communication skills

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have 3-5 years of experience in a technical position, preferably in a manufacturing quality environment (welding, fabricating or machining experience preferred)

• Experience working with IATF 16949 methodology preferred

• Familiar with the use of dimensional gauges (calipers, micrometers, etc.), including print reading / GD&T.

• Experience in SPC, process capability and gauge R & R studies is preferred.

• Good interpersonal skills, self-motivated, and must be able to work with minimal supervision
