PURPOSE & SCOPE:

The Quality Engineer II will perform various quality administrative support duties including customer contract reviews, supplier quality requirement flow downs, and preparation of quality data analysis to support the overall quality management system.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support senior Quality Engineers with monitoring customer complaints and product returns
  • Assist on quality improvement projects as directed
  • Support customer on site audits and evaluations as directed
  • Assist with root cause analysis and implement appropriate corrective/preventive action, to drive continuous improvement
  • Assist with Gage R&R (gage repeatability and reproducibility) studies and assist in identifying appropriate inspection equipment
  • Assist with First Article Inspection (FAI) planning and reviews
  • Assist with data analysis to identify trends and to drive continuous improvement activities
  • Interpret customer specifications, quality requirements, and customer/Sargent engineering drawing notes.
  • Create customer checklists and compliance matrices
  • Perform detailed contract reviews for new customer orders
  • Define supplier quality requirements and assure alignment ot customer requirements
  • Data entry into CSI system
  • Update work instructions and procedures as directed
  • Assist quality management team as needed


REQUIRED JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Associate Degree or four years quality assurance experience
  • Familiar with quality tool usage including root cause analysis, measurement system analysis, process reviews, pareto analysis and failure mode effects analysis
  • Proven knowledge of Quality Management System standards
  • Ability to read and understand drawings including GD&T and other requirements
  • Internal Auditor experience to AS9100 Quality System
  • Exposure to quality metrics, statistical control analysis and critical thinking methodologies
  • Ability to think analytically and creatively, to identify and develop quality solutions, and use appropriate judgment and decision-making skills necessary to achieve desired goals
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to a strict production schedule and handle conflicting priorities.
  • Proficient with applicable computer programs, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook
  • Technical writing experience
  • Must be a US citizen


PREFERRED JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Associates of Science Degree
  • ASQ -CQE or CQA
  • Experience with DFARS( Defense Acquisition Regulations System)
  • AS9100 Auditor Certification
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement techniques
  • Material Review Board experience
  • Defense Contract Management Agency and Federal Aviation Administration experience
  • Previous experience with Lean/ 6Sigma, such as Yellow Belt or above
  • Previous experience as a customer delegated inspector


WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work with a computer is necessary, sometimes for extended periods
  • Ability to safely move about in a variety of work environments, from office to manufacturing floor, and other
  • Ability to remain on a manufacturing shop floor, sometimes for extended periods, while meeting specified safety requirements (i.e., vision protection, foot/toe protection, and others as appropriate)
