Boulder Scientific Company (BSC) is headquartered in Mead, CO, and is a premier provider of organometallic compounds and other specialty chemicals used in a wide range of applications. BSC is a pioneer and leading manufacturer of metallocene catalysts and co-catalysts that are primarily used to produce metallocene polyethylene, polypropylene and elastomers, but also supplies products into Electronics, Pharmaceutical and Defense applications. BSC operates two sites in Northern Colorado, which include: a main production facility in Mead and a second facility in Longmont. BSC has continuously grown the sales of its products to existing and new customers and expects to continue on a high growth trajectory. We are seeking a QC Chemist I. This person will conduct quality control analysis on substances to support our Production, Pilot Plant, and R&D groups utilizing quantitative and qualitative analysis. The QC Chemist I will utilize appropriate analytical methodologies and instrumentation to perform all duties. Level will be commensurate with experience. This is an hourly, 12-hour shift position. The QC Chemist I schedule is a rotating schedule between days and nights. The shifts start at either 6:30am or 6:30pm. Every 18 weeks the shift changes to night shift for 12 weeks. All night shift hours pay a shift differential. The weekly rotation is: Week 1: 36 hours worked on Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday Week 2: 48 hours (includes 8 hours of overtime pay) worked on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday Pay for this role is $27-30/hourly. Job Responsibilities Performs analytical tests with the guidance of an experienced or Lead Chemist Focuses on final testing, but also performs in-process testing with guidance within 3 months of start Independently follows work instructions and test methods for product testing Consults batch records and developmental test methods for pilot plant testing. Prepares and validates laboratory standards and reagents Performs analyses safely and participates in safety improvements Reviews results when required Performs instrument validations and maintenance with guidance of Instrument Support Technician Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Science with zero to five years of industrial experience Experience Basic wet chemistry experience Experience running experiments in safe manner with proper PPE Experience reviewing data Quality control experience preferred Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
