SUMMARY

The Purchasing Manager shall oversee the procuring of aircraft parts, supplies, and materials as requested and/or needed and maintain meticulous transaction records.Must be familiar with portions of Aviation Regulations and Amerijet’s General Maintenance Manual that pertains to purchasing functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Purchasing Manager’s duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the management and supervision of the below activities and staff performing them;

  • Analyze parts and materials consumption based on historical usage and ensure that sufficient quantities are stocked while practicing lean supply management practices.
  • Preparation of purchase orders, solicit quotes, and review requisitions for aircraft parts and materials.
  • Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time, and in the event of problems, trace shipments and follow up undelivered goods.
  • Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintain and review computerized or manual records of items requested and purchased as well as delivery status.
  • Forward available inventory items by verifying stock and scheduling delivery.
  • Monitor stock levels
  • Research and select suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, and distribution capabilities.
  • Verify purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master log, clarifying unclear items, and recommending alternatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior experience in Aviation purchasing and procurement.
  • Working knowledge of negotiation techniques in the industry
  • Exceptional interpersonal and social skills to build a good rapport
  • Positive and professional demeanor
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Great team player

EDUCATION and/or CERTIFICATION:
  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Higher Education in Business Administration and Supply Chain Management a plus.



REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
  • A knack for negotiation and networking
  • Knowledge of inventory management
  • Decisive negotiators and buyers with good analytical and math abilities.
  • Ability to work independently

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years of related purchasing experience in aviation
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management

SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:
  • Computers, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Solid judgment along with decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Organized self-starter who understands how to prioritize tasks and is meticulous in record keeping.
  • Time management skills and the ability to deliver to deadlines.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:
  • Must be able to communicate over the phone and via email to deliver accurate information to vendors and staff.
  • Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work and bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouching, reaching, kneeling, twisting/turning, and feeling in case it is needed.

TRAVEL
  • This position may require traveling out-of-state.
