OPPORTUNITY

The eDiscovery Project Manager role is a full-time position based remotely. The successful candidate will be an integral part of DaVita's Team eDiscovery (TeD), focusing on issues around the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) as related to litigation, agency investigations (both civil and criminal), regulatory and other matters that may arise. This position will be a critical component to managing and mitigating legal and business risks and ensuring the effective and efficient management of eDiscovery from both internal and external sources. This position will report to the Director of eDiscovery. This position will have responsibility for working with DaVita legal counsel and paralegals, DaVita IT, outside counsel, DaVita's preferred eDiscovery service providers, as well as DaVita business teammates.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Enforce eDiscovery best practices on a matter by matter basis
  • Direct or perform Relativity activities associated with the processing, review, and production of ESI
  • Act as liaison between internal and external counsel, and IT and business personnel, as well as outside service providers on a matter by matter basis
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure established project deadlines are met
  • Communicate expectations for scope and deadlines to internal and external stakeholders
  • Serve as DaVita project manager for document reviews
  • Enforce defensible processing, review and production protocols
  • Participate in project management tasks such as kick-off call preparation and completion, and documentation of workflows, standards and project closure tasks such as data destruction
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of job instructions and of final work product
  • Oversee the establishment of case/matter specific databases, including directing outside vendors and in-house resources to provide established deliverables
  • Ability to direct IT teammates in the collection of electronically stored information (ESI) in all formats
  • Advise in-house and outside counsel regarding best practices related to efficient technology use on a matter by matter basis
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives
  • Maintain an understanding of eDiscovery and the tools used to support the industry

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • eDiscovery related certifications or paralegal certification preferred
  • Minimum 5 years eDiscovery experience

Professional Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Relativity (RCA is not required but is a plus)
  • Advanced and demonstrated project management skills, including demonstrated analytical, decision-making and problem solving skills
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable rules of procedure and evidence governing discovery
  • Proven experience in managing multiple requests for support while insuring stakeholders are satisfied with completeness, accuracy, and timeliness
  • Ability to respond to changes in requirements mandated by regulatory agencies, evidentiary rules and court rulings
  • Proven ability to manage potential exposure to legal sanctions concerning eDiscovery, particularly as related to high-risk matters
  • Broad knowledge concerning ranges of IT, including IT terminology, IT processes, commonly used IT systems and applications
  • Broad knowledge of eDiscovery technology and the collection, processing, and production of ESI, including metadata
  • Comprehensive knowledge of database concepts, data modeling and database applications and application of such knowledge in a variety of situations
  • Good overall knowledge of information security concepts and a clear understanding of their dependencies as related to eDiscovery
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to convey the meaning and importance of legal requirements pertaining to eDiscovery obligations to legal, IT, and business teammates
  • Ability to explain procedures, time periods, and related costs of eDiscovery processes
  • Ability to interface on a daily basis with senior leaders, attorneys, IT and other personnel
  • Able to function in a team environment, being flexible and responsive to changing priorities, and having an appropriate sense of urgency in completing tasks and projects
  • Ability to plan, schedule and monitor work, within set targets

Salary/ Wage Range

$75,200.00 to $110,400.00

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
