Position Summary

The Project Engineer works for the Sr. Manager of Distribution Center Strategy & Transformation, who is focused on implementing various solutions designed to enhance the North American Distribution Center's capability & capacity to provide an exceptional experience for our customers, the Teleflex business, and the employees upon whom we depend. Specifically, this role is responsible for managing projects related to the transformation of distribution center processes and systems to advance NADC performance to its next era of benchmark-level performance in terms of cost, speed, accuracy, and resiliency. Projects will be generated both from efforts to position the site to meet future opportunities and challenges (e.g. creating the new and different to capitalize on advantages available through modern technology) as well as in support of larger-scale improvement opportunities to existing processes and systems as identified internally through lean processes for problem solving and improvement.

Principal Responsibilities

• Define the objectives, requirements, and assumptions necessary to structure a project or activity.
• Plan, schedule, and control activities to fulfill identified objectives applying technical, theoretical, and managerial skills to satisfy project requirements.
• Drive and develop integrated development plans that represent the appropriate level of detail and task interdependency and aligns project tactics with overall project strategy.
• Ensure project risks have appropriate mitigation and contingency plans.
• Provide professional communication of project status to Sr. Management as well as all team members.
• Manage innovation projects that lead to new and different warehousing and distribution technologies designed to provide industry-leading performance in cost, speed, accuracy, and resiliency.
• Assist in simplifying and optimizing flows throughout the site, to identify track and eliminate all the non-value adding activities and reduce the overall lead-time to the customers and cost to the business.
• Assist in improving accuracy and resiliency of the operation to provide a consistent, dependable, and high quality service level to the customer and business.
• Operate as a subject matter expert (SME) for distribution center (DC) and Logistics.
• Partner with operations management to evaluate current processes, improve efficiencies, increase throughput, reduce lead times, optimize storage, and decrease costs.
• Identify process improvement/cost savings opportunities outside of the DC that impacts the DC and influence the applicable function and/or BU to act and partner with them on that action.
• Contribute to DC strategy relative to CI based on the site's vision, trend analysis, capacity modeling, etc.
• Ensure projects are developed and documented compliant with the Teleflex Quality System.
• Provide a steady awareness of industry trends in processes and technology in order to help identify new opportunities for Teleflex to provide a best in class logistics and distribution experience.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Adhere to and ensure the compliance of Teleflex's Code of Ethics, all Company polies, rules, procedures and housekeeping standards.

Education / Experience Requirements

• Bachelor of Science or Professional Engineering Certification - Engineering or Technical discipline
• 4 - 6 years engineering experience; medical device industry strongly preferred
• 3 years' experience in an operations, manufacturing, engineering, or distribution environment.
• 3 years' experience with SAP or other ERP/WMS systems.
• Project management experience or PMP Certification preferred

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

• Strong knowledge and experience applying Disiplined Project Management tools & methods
• Skills in Project Management tools; i.e. MS Project, Planview, Smartsheets is a plus.
• Expertise in implementing and supporting large-scale warehouse technology solutions is a plus.
• In depth knowledge of WMS, WCS, and MHE system capabilities is a plus.
• Ability to proficiently utilize AutoCAD is a plus.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, Visio, and Power Point.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills. This includes both comfort establishing rapport with associates to engage their support and inclusion as well as maintaining confident and effective executive presence.
• Team player with good interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated, high energy, collaborative that can independently drive for timely completion of goals.
• Able to travel domestically and internationally.
• Work in a matrixed organization, across international regions
• An intense curiosity that keeps you up at night solving problems.
• Entrepreneurial start-up mentality; scrappy, creative, and constantly iterating to be best-in-class.
