Beyond their talent, these classmates share a desire to shape the future through technology, insight, intellectual exploration and community service.

Job Description:

Binghamton University, the State University of New York, and Binghamton's Institute for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention (I-GMAP) announce a senior search for a scholar of the Holocaust and Comparative Genocides. Appointment will be at the rank of Full Professor or Associate Professor, with tenure.

I-GMAP seeks a creative and internationally visible senior genocide scholar with an established record of outstanding scholarship and teaching on the Holocaust and Genocide Studies to join the Institute's team of core faculty. As the first academic institute focusing on the prevention of genocides and mass atrocities, I-GMAP particularly values scholarship that transcends traditional disciplinary boundaries and that engages with a range of global prevention actors in academia, government and civil society. The successful applicant will join I-GMAP's interdisciplinary team and will actively contribute to other academic departments at Binghamton University's Harpur College of Arts and Sciences, with a personnel berth in an appropriate department.

Normal teaching load is four courses per academic year. Of these, one course on Comparative Genocides, at the graduate and advanced undergraduate level, will be in support of I-GMAP's graduate and undergraduate programs. An annual undergraduate course on the Holocaust will contribute directly to the departments of History and Judaic Studies. Two electives, including graduate seminars, complete the normal academic year teaching requirements, including graduate teaching and supervision both in I-GMAP's Master of Science in Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention, and doctoral supervision in the successful applicant's berth department.

This senior position carries a highly competitive salary, a substantial research budget, and full benefits.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of outstanding scholarship in Holocaust and/or Comparative Genocide Studies, along with substantial teaching experience in these areas.
