Waubonsee Community College is accepting applications for part-time Tutors. Tutors are responsible for providing support with the mastery of concepts and applications for students who are completing the Health Profession Programs. They integrate effective study and learning strategies, thereby maximizing the students' potential to become independent learners and achieve academic success during individual walk-in, appointment based, or group tutoring.

Reporting to the Academic Support Coordinator, Tutors provide subject matter expertise and serve as models for students in the techniques, strategies, attitudes, and beliefs of successful learners. Assistance might include reviewing class material, discussing problems, reviewing test questions, or working on solutions to problems. This position requires a professional with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively use technology to enhance tutoring sessions.

Successful Tutors employ a holistic approach to student success, bring passion and enthusiasm to the Tutoring Center, and are collaborative with students, faculty and colleagues. They work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Facilitate individual and small group tutoring sessions in person or virtually via drop-in and/or appointments.

Create a welcoming environment and assist faculty/staff, tutors and students.

Conduct classroom visits (in person or virtually).

Be punctual, begin all sessions promptly, use time for academic tasks, and focus on the student's needs.

Be courteous and helpful in all interactions including phone and online conversations.

Maintain a nice and clean appearance of the workstation.

Maintain confidentiality with any shared information.

Complete and submit all required forms and training (e.g. time sheets and evaluations).

Adhere to all tutoring policies.

Assist the Academic Support Coordinator with various projects.

Tutoring Positions- applicant must have experience with at least one of the following areas:
Nursing (Nursing License and professional degree)

Preferred Qualifications (not required):
Basic Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (Canvas)

Bilingual (preferred)
