Primary Function:

Supervise and coordinate the activities of production workers, such as inspectors, machinists, assemblers, and fabricators.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Enforce safety regulations.
• Ensure employees are trained on equipment and understand any safety concerns associated with the equipment.
• Ensure employees are competent in assigned jobs and provide appropriate instruction to maintain quality standards.
• Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in manufacturing, such as assemblers, machinists, and fabricators.
• Oversee daily operation of the production department.
• Read and analyze work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
• Accesses drawing file for appropriate blueprints.
• Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
• Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
• Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
• Assists in collecting inspection information.
• Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training.
• Observe work and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production standards.
• Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
• Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers when necessary.
• Maintain operations data, such as time, production, and cost records, and prepare management reports of production results.
• Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
• Receive raw material and products from outside suppliers when appropriate.
• Verify raw material on-hand to complete production run. Report shortages to Purchasing Department.
• Maintain file for future ship date orders. Maintain these files at appropriate machine.
• Maintain files of all pending orders and work in process.
• Review and sign off on employee time sheets.
• Requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
• Recommend personnel actions such as discipline, hiring and promotion.
• Perform evaluations for employees as required.
• Ensure manufacturing area and equipment cleanliness is maintained.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Computer literate - Microsoft Office experience preferred.
• Two to five years supervisory experience in manufacturing preferred.
• Above average blueprint reading skills and ability to work from drawings and verbal instruction from engineering.
• Working knowledge of shop math including geometry and trigonometry. Experience in CAD drafting and (rotary draw tubing benders) is a plus.
• Exhibits effective communication skills
