How you will make contributions that matter...

• Responsible for the overall performance of the Production, Packaging and/or Whey Departments while focusing on Cost, Quality, Safety and Employee Environment.
• Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to production and packaging personnel. Develop employee and lead skills and abilities to support the plant and promote upward.
• Develop and improve the cheese and whey processes.
• Cooperate with Maintenance to coordinate and implement maintenance activities
• Help monitor and control departmental costs in comparison with budgetary objectives.
• Help plan daily/weekly production schedules.
• Communicate with all employees daily to coordinate operations.
• Schedule the optimum amount of personnel coverage to meet the labor standards determined by the product schedule and budget. Provide supervisory coverage on different shifts as needed.
• Monitor and oversee the quality of the finished product by maintaining the equipment and facility in a sanitary condition.
• Communicate daily with the Production Manager through conversations and written documentation.
• Identify equipment and machine problems and correct these problems by preparing and submitting the necessary maintenance work orders to reduce downtime.
• Trouble-shoot and lead problem-solving efforts through the facilitation of team meetings and on-the-floor leadership to effectively change systems and procedures through the process of continuous improvement.
• Administer company policies and procedures with the assistance of the Human Resources Department to maintain effective internal and external relationships.
• Counsel and discipline employees when appropriate in accordance with Saputo's policies and work rules.
• Provide departmental safety training and enforce safe working practices at all times. Document and investigate every accident and injury within your department, including facilitating the RCA process.
• Promote safety programs and policies in order to reduce the number of accidents and injuries within his/her department.
• Participate in the interviewing and selection of applicants for vacant positions within the department.
• Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices "GMPs", HACCP and Company quality standards to ensure the quality of the product.
• Perform miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.
• Performs other duties as needed or as requested.

You are best suited for the role if you...

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of (1)-one year of demonstrated work experience in food manufacturing, dairy food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Advanced quality/food safety training and/or certifications is a plus, but not required.
• A working understanding of food manufacturing acronyms (SQF, QA/QC, CQP, HACCP, SOP,5S, GMP, etc.).
• Strong math skills.
• Proficient computer skills, software and data entry, SAP a plus.
• Strong technical skills, ability to operate and understand equipment controls, touch panels and mechanical operations.
• Successful completion of drug screen andbackground check.
