The Product Development Introduction (PDI) Engineer will work directly with the VP of Operations and Department Leads to manage the design, prototyping, and engineering and manufacturing stages throughout a new product lifecycle. The PDI Engineer will manage the project concept and oversee each phase between design stage and first manufacturing run.

JOB DUTIES:

Focuses on making sure designs can be realized on quality, cost, and schedule targets.

  • Collaborate across departments in bringing new products to market
  • Drive innovative product designs into go-to-market products
  • Oversee designs through physical product and prepare clients for new product introduction
  • Develop schedules and manufacturing strategies communicating project goals and timelines across departments and ultimately to the customer
  • Research solutions and guide team forward when various conflicts arise
  • Serve as focal point for communication across departments and customers on product status, progress, challenges and proposed solutions
  • Support optimization efforts
  • Facilitate technical review and approval of internal and external changes requests
  • Develop best practices and drive continuous improvement

  • Works with other team members to identify as well as resolve issues
  • Coordinate with the development team, client, and partners to develop and deliver the required test products
  • Understands team dynamics and how to achieve buy in throughout all phases

SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in product development
  • Program management experience (PMP preferred but not required)
  • Proficient in Solidworks, JMP or MiniTab, and PDM
  • Proficient in QMS Systems and SPC
  • Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and collaborative skills
  • Fine tuned interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and liaison with other disciplines to enact the changes needed to accomplish project goals
  • Proficient in Lean Manufacturing (Lean Six Sigma cert preferred but not required)
  • Superior knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong attention to detail with consistent accuracy.

  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects / priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in ERP system

Based in Boise, ID

Estimated travel - 5 - 10%
