Job Description
Purpose / Description

Material Logistics is an organization within Global Supply Chain that is responsible for managing the distribution of material to our Assembly and Propulsion plants in North America. This position involves supervising a small team of experienced Logistics professionals. The Premium Material Logistics Supervisor has the responsibility of managing the Premium network which includes, crisis management, critical shipment support, carrier management, risk mitigation, premium cost recovery, premium reporting and claims processing for loss and damage. This position requires a high degree of internal communication with the GM Command Center, Logistics Purchasing, Plant Teams and Supply Chain Leadership.

Position Tasks and Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of Logistics Coordinators - provide training, feedback, and participate Bi-Weekly Operations Meetings
  
• Lead in developing and implementing corrective actions and alternatives
  
• Develop protection of supply and contingency plans
  
• Support plant priority shipping requests
  
• Participate in the sourcing process - provide input and content for SORs, RFQs and technical reviews
  
• Develop and deliver presentations to all levels of management
  
• Work cross-functionally and multi-culturally to resolve operational issues
  
• Support resolution of North American suppliers and shipping issues as required (including evenings and weekends)
  
• Continuous improvement work with the LSC
  
• Support cost recovery processes for loss and damage claims and Supplier / Carrier responsible premium shipments
  

Additional Job Description
Experience / Education

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related field
  
• 3 years of work experience in Transportation and/or Supply Chain Management
  

Knowledge

• Knowledge of the General Motors Material Logistics Network
  
• Working knowledge of GM plant material requirements
  

Skills

• High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult
  
• Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with cross functional partners to meet mutual goals
  
• Highly proficient oral and written communication skills
  
• Ability to work with global customers
  
• Ability to work independently and in teams
  
• Highly proficient computer skills - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI
