Description:

The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth invites applications for a pre-doctoral research fellow. This full-time appointment starts in the summer of 2024 and will be over a period of up to two years with an initial one-year term.

The research fellow gains exposure to empirical research in the areas of Corporate Finance, Household Finance, and Financial Institutions. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with Tuck's Finance faculty on research projects at all stages of the research process. Associated research duties entail assembling and statistically analyzing data, developing new research projects, reviewing the existing literature, writing up findings, and other research tasks. In addition, the research fellow will be warmly invited to participate in research seminars, conferences, and become an active member of the research community at Tuck.

This appointment presents an excellent opportunity to obtain valuable research experience and to acquire additional research skills. This position is ideally suited as preparation for applicants who are considering pursuing a Ph.D. in Economics, Finance, or related fields. Research fellows who apply to Ph.D. programs will be supported in preparing their applications. Further, we will provide the opportunity to engage in co-authored work that may be beneficial for graduate school applications and beyond.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this position

(1)    holds (or is about to hold) an undergraduate or master's degree in a quantitative field such as economics, mathematics, computer science, or physics,

(2)    has taken coursework in statistics, econometrics, or data analysis,

(3)    has strong coding skills and experience in using R, Stata, or Python for data analysis,

(4)    solves problems independently and is highly motivated to do research in economics.

A background in economics or finance is not required. All candidates who can demonstrate quantitative skills and coding proficiency are encouraged to apply.

The research fellow will receive a competitive salary and benefits such as health insurance. The school will further provide a computer and technical support.
