The responsibilities of the fellow will include - (a) development of experimental methodologies to generate and rigorously characterize spectrally entangled photon pairs at visible wavelengths and (b) integration of spatial light modulators within microscopy platforms. The
outcomes of these two seemingly independent activities will be combined for the development of a quantum optical microscope, based on photon pair fluorescence microscopy, which can perform high resolution microscopy at extremely low photon densities.Job Description

Essential Functions:

1. Development of experimental methodologies to generate and rigorously characterize spectrally
entangled photon pairs at visible wavelengths.
2. Integration of spatial light modulators within microscopy platforms.

Design and build optical experiments in a research laboratory environment. The experiments could
include laser, LED, and other light sources, passive and active optical elements, manual and motorized optical mounts, optical diagnostic equipment, including detectors (cameras, photodiodes, power meters, etc.), interferometers, spectrometers, etc.


Other Functions:
Other tasks include computer programming, literature review, data analysis, data curation, and other tasks associated with the conduct of laboratory experiments.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • A Ph.D. in Physics or a related area with experience in optical microscopy/ nonlinear optics/ quantum optics is required.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Labview, Matlab, Python programming skills would be useful, but not required.

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for own work. But may have co-mentoring duties for undergraduate and graduate students working in the lab.
