About This Position

Great professional growth opportunity for a Ph.D. to carry out federally funded research aimed at using advanced machine learning techniques to predict outcome and best therapeutics in both preclinical and clinical datasets. The Bramlett/Dietrich lab in the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Associate that will be integral to the lab's research goals and program.

The duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:


  • Analyze data using advanced machine learning methodologies.

  • Knowledge in coding languages including Python and R.

  • Familiar with Libraries including pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, NumPy, Matplotlib

  • Performing rat and mouse traumatic brain injury surgeries.

  • Evaluations of cognitive and sensory behavior of rats and mice, using various standard tests.

  • Biochemical analysis of brains from rats and mice, including dissections, western blotting, and densitometry.

  • Histological processing of brains from rats and mice, including perfusion, dissection, sectioning, staining and image analysis.

  • Data entry, analysis and reporting of findings. Assisting in the preparation of written published reports and oral presentations. Perform computer-based analysis of data from various experiments. Keep detailed notebooks (electronic and paper based) describing experimental methods and results.

  • Routine laboratory maintenance, including inventory maintenance, ordering supplies and organizing the laboratory.

  • Attend weekly laboratory meetings to plan work schedules.

  • Designing and performing experiments


Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in a basic science or health discipline

  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.

  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
