Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cell Signaling and Molecular Physiology

Harvard Medical School

Brigham and Women's Hospital

March 4th, 2021

POSITION SUMMARY

A postdoctoral position is available in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in the laboratory of Dr. Paul Yu.

A highly motivated candidate is sought for a research fellowship that will examine cell signal transduction, cell biology, molecular pharmacology and physiology with the goal of developing novel therapeutics for Cardiovascular and Musculoskeletal disease. Recent trainees have published high-profile manuscripts, presented at national conferences, won competitive fellowship awards, and contributed to the development of several treatments that are now in clinical development. Recent trainees have attained Faculty posts at prestigious academic institutions, have attained Senior Scientist positions in the biotechnology and pharma industry, or are using their scientific expertise to manage health care investments in the field of Venture Capital.

Our laboratory performs translational research with the goal of understanding how signals mediated by the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) and transforming growth factor-b (TGF-b) of molecules are transduced by target cells and integrated with context to regulate physiology and disease. Human genetics has highlighted the roles of this signaling pathway in cardiopulmonary and musculoskeletal disease. We have developed unique experimental probes, novel animal models, and potential drug molecules that allow us to interrogate the basic mechanisms of disease, and advance beyond currently available therapies. Our work lies at the nexus of progenitor cell biology, chemical biology, cardiovascular physiology, and experimental pharmacology.

We welcome applications from creative, independent and entrepreneurial-minded individuals interested in pursuing multidisciplinary approaches to mechanisms of disease.
