The Department of Psychology, within the College of Arts & Sciences, is seeking a full-time Post-Doctoral Associate under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Messinger. Postdoctoral researcher in behavioral data science. Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, statistical physics, psychology (computational modeling), or related fields required. Expertise in audio processing, mobility tracking, and machine learning preferred. Duration: One year with potential extensions.

Qualifications:

● Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, or related field

Core Responsibilities:

● Works and collaborates on studies related to field of study.
●Ensures the design, development, execution and implementation of scientific research and/or
development in collaboration with a research team.
●Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories to potential
inventions and products.
● Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
● Contributes to scientific literature and conferences, when appropriate.

Lab Specific Responsibilities:

●The Postdoctoral Associate will implement the multimodal data pipeline.

●They will evaluate sensor synchronization and resynchronize as warranted, and implement artifact detection and correction.

●The Postdoctoral Associate will integrate audio diarization of multiple child/teacher recordings with respect to physical distance and orientation to produce a weighted speaker identification score for each vocalization.

●They will characterize these vocalizations with respect to phonemic complexity, fundamental frequency, and intensity.

●The Postdoctoral Associate will prepare project recordings and final machine learning ready data files in .csv format.

●They will disseminate data, Python processing code, and metadata descriptions of the processing pipeline.

●The Postdoc will work with an interdisciplinary team collecting, modeling, and disseminating big behavioral data in the form of audio recordings and mobility tracking from children and teachers in preschool classrooms for children with and without hearing loss.
