PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To provide leadership and support for the quality process for the local manufacturing facility. Responsible for quality program and interface with customers on quality issues. Support plant metrics (Safety, Quality, Spoilage, OEE, Production, Process Improvements, Costs). Oversees and manages customer certification programs (SQF, ISO). The position reports to the local Plant Manager. Furthermore, there is a dotted reporting line to the Sector Quality Manager.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Manages quality team & customer certification process
• Manages customer inquiries/concerns/relationships Teams with Production on the review of HFl"s and other product quality issues
• Analyzes performance trends and takes corrective action proactively to meet goals
• Assists PM in executing and ensuring policies, procedures, action plans & customer feedback are met
• Manages the development of hourly & salary personnel in continuous improvement initiatives
• Leads improvement of quality metrics
• Responsible for the facility overall Quality Policy and Procedure administration.
• Maintain quality assurance systems, procedures, and necessary documentation.
• Ensure all quality testing equipment is calibrated.
• Ensure the facility is maintained in accordance with GMP/Sanitation requirements. Manage and audit internal and external quality programs take necessary corrective action.
• Ensure all plant work instructions and production standards are up to date and meet requirements.
• Ensure all associates are adequately trained in all required quality procedures and use of quality equipment and systems.
• Ensure all quality checks are accomplished per the corporate quality procedures.
• Respond and resolve daily product quality material issues. Conduct root cause analysis on all NOC's, and implement corrective action.
• Visit customer locations as necessary.
• Develop and communicate facility quality metrics, measure improvement.

SQF COORDINATION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Administration of the company food safety and quality programs
• Oversees compliance to regulatory guidelines
• Oversees sanitation and cleaning
• Delegates food safety and Quality Assurance responsibilities to competent personnel
• Oversees food safety, quality and HACCP training
• Oversees the plant pest control program
• Reviews customer complaint information and implements follow up
• Implementation of the Sanitation Program and master cleaning schedule
• Leads annual SQF system review as part of management meetings

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's Degree in technical or relevant discipline preferred.
• Quality professional with at least 5-8 years' experience, preferably gained as a supervisor in manufacturing/quality.
• Experience in a union environment desired
• A strong technical and systems aptitude.
• Previous experience within the can end manufacturing industry is a definite advantage.
• Production and Processing- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
• Supervisory experience in leading teams and influencing associates to meet facility goals.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement processes utilizing six sigma and lean tools.
• Strong desire to drive a lasting impact on the quality processes for the facility.
• Outstanding written and verbal communications capabilities.
