Job Title: Phlebotomist
Schedule: Full Time Nights (10:30p-7:00a) with rotating weekends
Location: Gainesville Campus
Job Summary: Performs the duties of a Phlebotomist I plus the added responsibilities that are designated by the Section Supervisor. Because of their experience and level of expertise, they are also responsible for the training and supervision of other phlebotomy staff. The Phlebotomist II must maintain sufficient clinical and managerial expertise to function as an assistant to the Laboratory Section Supervisor and perform those duties in the Section Supervisor's absence. Also, is expected to display initiative, excellent verbal and written communication skills and be proactive in dealing with the day-to-day responsibilities and problem resolution in the department. The leadership role of the Phlebotomist II requires this self -motivated individual to work closely with the Lab Section Supervisor, Lab Administration, Pathologists and to be well respected by their peers and other co-workers. This position will care for patients in the neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. Employee performs clinical duties in accordance with population specific guidelines and adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined in policy and procedures
Minimum Job Qualifications:
Licensure or certifications: Successful completion of NPA (National Phlebotomy Association) or ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologist) certification in phlebotomy preferred
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Experience: At least 5 years of continuous employment as a lab assistant, and 2 years supervisory experience preferred. Bilingual skills are a plus
