Job Summary:

As a member of Adult Community Clinical Services (ACCS), the Peer Supports Coordinator facilitates the implementation of recovery-oriented practices within ACCS and provides peer supervision, training, and consultation to Peer Support Staff on the Integrated Teams along with direct support to individuals who use ACCS services. The Peer Supports Coordinator contributes to Bay Cove's mission by ensuring that ACCS services are robustly recovery-oriented, and that Peer Support Staff are competent in their partnering with Persons to reach their personal goals. This is a non-exempt position.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provides mentoring and guidance to all ACCS Peer Support Staff.
  • Directly Supervises Peer Support Staff on assigned ACCS team in partnership with the Integrated Team Director
Essential Functions of the Position:
  • Collaborate with Integrated Team Directors in the provision of supervision and support to Peer Support Staff and in conjunction with Integrated Team Directors
  • Provide direct support to individuals who receive ACCS services.
  • Attend Integrated Team team meeting weekly in order to provide formal training or consultation regarding the implementation of best practices to promote engagement, empowerment, and recovery, and to model behaviors and attitudes consistent with a recovery-oriented culture
  • Facilitate Integrated Team efforts to implement wellness management and recovery strategies, such as Hearing Voices Network groups, Alternatives to Suicide Groups, Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP),
  • Conduct a weekly meeting of Peer Support Staff
  • Collaborate with Integrated Team Director to ensure that all trainings, supervision, and supports provided to team staff are trauma-informed, culturally competent, recovery-oriented, and promote a culture of respect of people with lived experience and to provide all ACCS staff with training regarding Peer Support Staff roles and recovery-oriented principles and best practices during orientation.
  • Advise, prepare, and mentor Peer Support Staff in their efforts to provide outreach and education to stakeholders in order to decrease stigma towards Persons in recovery, to increase awareness of the possibility of recovery, and to promote the role of Peer Support Staff.
  • Provide specialized coaching to Peer Support Staff on assigned Integrated Team regarding the provision of support and advocacy for issues related to crisis recovery, psychiatric and medical hospitalizations, medical issues and appointments, housing issues, legal proceedings, employment, community integration, in addition to any other life and care transitions as they occur.
  • Coordinate team efforts to implement "Environment Matters" initiatives that are geared to creating trauma-informed, recovery orientated spaces for Person's served and staff.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements for the Position:
  • Current certification as a Certified Peer Specialist required.
  • At least 3 years' experience providing peer supports.
  • At least 2 years' experience working in a related position or with a related population.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to use one's own personal experiences and recovery story with the purpose and intent to build trust and develop collaborative relationships with Persons.
  • Demonstrated ability to model behaviors and attitudes consistent with a recovery-oriented culture and to educate staff members around recovery principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership within the community of Peer Support Staff.
  • Demonstrated expertise in providing training to others.
  • Demonstrated supervisory, mentoring, and coaching skills.
  • Professional writing and oral communications skills.
  • High degree of personal organization, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps.
  • Use of personal cellular telephone for work communication.
  • Valid driver's license and use of one's personal vehicle preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.
  • A COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement of the position. One COVID-19 shot is acceptable, contingent on the individual receiving the second shot within the allotted time frame.
