Position Summary
Compile information needed and input data for payroll and benefits administration. Maintain all related payroll records and information. Analyze payroll reports for trends. Subject Matter Expert for all payroll functions and system integrations.

Execute strong analytical, technical, communication and organizational skills. The Payroll Manager, reporting to the Controller will ensure timely and accurate payroll processing for Dominican University including analysis of payroll reports on a periodic basis. Additionally, this position will manage and lead system integration for payroll functions.


Responsibilities

  • Review hours worked for miss punches with employees and supervisors during each payroll cycle.
  • For each payroll, review wages computed to ensure accuracy, correct errors or identify additional information necessary to complete.
  • Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to manage and maintain records for payments made to employees on workers compensation, disability or other leaves of absence.
  • Transmit payroll information to payroll processor for the preparation and issuing of paychecks. Review reports from systems of record for accuracy.
  • Respond to employee inquiries about and access to on-line paystub information along with any other payroll related inquiries.
  • Manage benefit and retirement plan enrollment processing for medical, dental, life\LTD, FSA and 403(b) plans. Coordinate with Human Resources on enrollment issues or problems. Additionally, verify proper 403(b) IRS, Health Savings Account, and FSA limits are adhered to. Be the final checkpoint for all payroll/benefit entry information into system of record.
  • Run 403B audit annually for 403B true up (Calendar year)
  • Coordinate worker’s compensation annual audit
  • Reply to written correspondence from Federal, State, and other agencies
  • Work closely with other departments regarding payroll related processes
  • Produce payroll reports as needed for university
  • Manage Employment verification processes
  • Participate in month-end close activities, including preparation of payroll JE’s and reconciliation of accounts
  • Prepare Federal work study report
  • Prepare PR journal entries to correct discrepancies
  • Other projects or duties may be assigned.

  • Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5-7 years with all aspects of payroll administration
  • Experience with on-line pay and timekeeping systems
  • Significant experience with a Multi state workforce
  • Experience and ability to run reports from payroll systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Functional experience with payroll systems i.e. Paycom
  • Accounting experience
  • Benefits administration experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work with confidential information

  • Additional Position Information
