Blake 7 is an eighteen bed Adult Medical Intensive Care Unit. This is a multidisciplinary unit with a variety of complex respiratory and medical patients. The unit cares for patients who may require treatments that include CVVH and ECMO.
Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment. PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs. Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.
Hours:
36 hour Day/Night-with every third weekend commitment position
Qualifications
Current CNA certificate for Massachusetts and previous experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
HS diploma or equivalent required.
Effective customer service orientation and the ability to interact with diverse groups of patients, staff and providers.
Demonstrated ability to solve basic patient and practice problems using a combination of strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
Ability to lift and transport patients, using the appropriate physical technique, in a safe manner for the patient and self.
