Requirements
Internship Program Overview
This research internship opportunity is available to Master’s or PhD level students immediately post-graduation or during the last semester prior to graduation. The one-semester internship is paid, and each intern will acquire competencies in at least one of the following core areas:
- Performs critical review and synthesis of the health care literature to support and assess federal quality programs.
- Obtains knowledge of ESRD networks, dialysis facilities, and treatment for dialysis and kidney transplant patients.
- Be assigned an HSAG mentor to serve as a day-to-day point of contact.
- Meet with the project team and begin participating in all project team meetings. Ability to make presentations and communicate project results to staff.
- Perform assignments and prepare work products that contribute to the overall project.
- Conduct literature reviews and web-based searches focused on clinical quality measurement, CMS quality payment programs, and the use of healthcare data.
- Drafting public-facing documents, both technical and non-technical.
- Synthesize and summarize information contained in legislative mandates and proposed and final rules.
- Provide content to support the creation of research papers, policy briefs and option papers.
