Job Summary:

GFL Environmental is looking for an Outside Sales Representative to join our team out of our Warren, Michigan Office! The Outside Sales Representative will be responsible to generate and qualify sales as well as carry out and manage all sales activities on assigned accounts or areas. Representatives are responsible to research new areas for potential growth and in conjunction with the director of sales, ensure customer satisfaction and manage the quality of the services we offer .

Essential Functions:

  • Make sales calls to new and existing clients
  • Actively monitor market and generate qualified sales
  • Generate and qualify sales
  • Manage active accounts as well as accounts given
  • Attend by-monthly sales meetings in office with director of sales. Interface with director of sales to prepare and implement sales action plans and strategies.
  • Make recommendations for improving sales efforts and effectiveness
  • Maintain weekly sales activity sheet
  • Develop and maintain-customer database
  • Develop and make presentations of company products and services to current and potential clients
  • Perform special assignments and related duties and responsibilities as required


Education, Training, Experience and Licensing/Certification Requirements:

  • 2 years' sales experience in the waste (or other sales related) industries
  • Knowledge of the waste industries strategic processes as well as general selling techniques and skills
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to create strong working relationships
  • Knowledge of relevant computer applications as well as general knowledge of database management
  • Ability to use independent judgement to manage and impart information
  • Ability to generate and qualify potential sales leads
  • Ability to develop and maintain sales and other promotional materials
  • Ability to prepare and present sales contracts
  • Ability to monitor competitors as well as the market conditions being worked under
  • Ability to continually rebalance priorities
