COVID VACCINATION NOTICE: Under the COVID-19 mandate issued by the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment on August 2, 2021, current MHCD personnel must be fully vaccinated, or be approved for exemption, no later than September 30, 2021. "Fully vaccinated" means two weeks (14 days) after receiving the final dose of vaccine. The "final dose" is the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) or the single dose of a one dose vaccine (J&J).

POSITION SUMMARY: Working primarily in an outpatient clinic, office, telehealth or similar/hybrid setting, provide direct mental health clinical assessment, treatment, and counseling to 6 years old and up, their families and adults. Work includes screenings for level of care, intakes, diagnosis, some case management, and provide treatment through individual, family, and group modalities. Experience and credentialing in substance use, play therapy, DBT, EMDR, art therapies and animal assistance models are highly preferred. Substance use credentialing has a pay differential.

SALARY RANGE:

Mental Health Therapist II (master's-level) - $22.00/hr - $26.42/hr


LCSW/LPC/LMFT - $26.35/hr - $31.59/hr

Spanish Language Differential - $2.50/hr

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide diagnostic evaluations, crisis interventions, individual, family, and group therapy for a caseload of individuals and families receiving weekly therapy.
  • Provide some case management and coordination services to consumers as needed or make appropriate referrals to ensure basic needs are met.
  • Develop treatment plans; monitor treatment progress and follow-up at disposition times.
  • Collaborate with youth and families on safety assessments and safety planning.
  • Assist youth and families with social/emotional/psychological development and problematic behaviors that cause difficulties with school, home or community.
  • Assess level of care and acuity to identify most appropriate and least restrictive level of care.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, service coordinators and other professionals within the Child and Family department and the larger organization.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records consistent with Medicaid and organizational standards.
  • Participate in team/MHCD meetings, in-services, and supervisory sessions as required.
  • Maintain a trauma informed environment of wellbeing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • For licenses individuals: Supervise student interns as a potential opportunity to expand clinical supervision skills.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

Master's Degree in social work, psychology, or similar field. Current license as a LCSW/LPC/LMFT in the State of Colorado preferred.

EXPERIENCE: At least one year experience in mental health or human services preferred.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Knowledge or ability to learn and practice trauma informed principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of methods of psychotherapy with a systems approach.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to assess crisis situations and intervene appropriately.
  • Familiarity with the DSM V and diagnostic techniques.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible and on-call hours which may be required.
  • Ability to work independently, flexibly, and quickly adapt to changing situations.
  • Ability to give, receive and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written materials and articulate goals and action plans.
  • Must understand people from all walks of life and be able to communicate effectively with them.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency strongly preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: For licensed individuals, optional supervision of student interns both clinically and administratively can be opportunities for growth.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to sit, stand, bend and reach, drive, operate standard office equipment such as phone, computer, facsimile, copier/printer, and other business machines. Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS: Ability to give, receive and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written materials and articulate goals and action plans. Must understand people from all walks of life and be able to communicate effectively with them.

WORKING CONDITIONS: May require occasional evening, weekend or on-call hours. Some local travel depending on position.
